The Show is an exploration of Instagram as a fluid medium to view and experience art. The exhibit is a consideration of the use of Instagram as a platform for art creation and curation in the hands of anyone with a smartphone. Initiated by our work on the MoMA Teens Digital Advisory Board, our intent is to recreate the mental space we inhabit at an ethereal, digital level in a more traditional environment, asking the audience to examine Instagram as a legitimate leader in the future of art viewing and making as we know it. We want to give context to an intangible platform for self exploration through curation in the modern age. We are exploring the relationship between an artist’s persona and their own personal work, as well as distinctions and correlations between reality and the metaverse where anyone with a smartphone can tap into and curate their own identity. The opening reception will be on June 5th from 7 - 10 PM with very limited RSVP due to the constraints of the space, with additional viewings by appointment on June 6th from 10 AM - 5 PM and June 7th from 10 AM - 5 PM. The Exhibition will be at the beautiful and legendary home and private studio of world renouned painter John Ransom Phillips. His beautiful home is a intimate Civil War Era farm house with Landmark Status and was home to one of the first Cipriani’s as well as host to the legendary private nightclub, Le Club.
